Coach Tim Pierce
Verdugo Pool
Tim Pierce, Coach, and father of Jonny Pierce. Tim is a former PGA Golf Professional. Tim got into swimming when his son Jonny started swimming for the Swim Torrance Club Team. At that time Tim found he himself had a great interest in swimming and I found the technique to swimming so interesting. In 2010, Tim got his certifications as a USA Swim Coach, American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 2 and ASCA certification for swimmers with disabilities. He was an assistant coach for the LA Mirada Armada from 2011-2015, working with high school age groups and younger age groups. In 2016 his son Jonny became a member of the US National Paralympic Team and since then his focus has been working with Jonny to make the Paralympics. Tim met Coach Mike at several Masters Meets over the last 6 years and felt the Golden Road Aquatics team would be a great place to add to Jonny’s swim program. Tim and his wife Irene (Jonny’s mother) are both USMS members with the Los Angeles Peninsula Swimmers (LAPS) in Torrance as is Jonny. They both are volunteer coaches for Southern California Special Olympics, and they coach athletes with special needs. Thanks to Jonny, they have developed a love for swimming
